My Wonderful Working out Problems l Term 2

 My Wonderful Working out Problems

Working out problems backwards is really quite simple once you get the hang of it, it is simply reversing the question, for example, say Start with the end of a problem, and work Step By Step toward the beginning to get a Solution, Write down each step as you get closer to figuring out the Problem, And Finally, The last Step will Verify that the Method Works and then you should get the Answer. Also If we were to Subtract a Number we would add, If I Multiplied a Number we would Divide If I Divided we would Subtract so this is Reversed.
For our task we had to create a word problem for you, and you need to work it out, in the backwards method, here is mine, I would love to see your answer as well. Did you find this challenging?

Interesting Horror Introduction l Term 2

Kia ora Bloggers and welcome back to my blog,
Starting in term 3 we will be making video essays for our literacy, but first, we needed to learn about all genre, such as Horror, Adventure, Sci-Fi and much more. This week we have been focusing on horror and after learning and watching a movie about it we were given the task of creating a creepy horror introduction to a horror story. Here is mine.

Driving home from my fathers funeral, the rain was pouring down and it was late, but all I could seem to think about is what would happen now, I am now 18 and I will be moving away soon, and unfortunately I think my mum is becoming an alcoholic, she has quit her job and no just sits on the couch and drinks, I am terribly worried and am second-guessing about going to university. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHH”, BOOM CRASH BANG, all I could feel is my head pounding, as my eyes open and close with blurry sight, I look over to see my mum in the driver seat, with blood pouring out of her head, then I looked out the window to see that we were slowly sinking into a river, but not just any river, strangely it was the river my father tragically died and drowned in, this fact just made it ever so creepy. A tear rolled down my face as I realised I could be dying the same exact place that my father died, and right after his funeral, I soon start to become sleepy and pass out.

While passed out I saw many things but the most interesting was that I could see my father drowning in the river, but the thing was he did not die in the river he seemed to calmly walk out as he had just been panicking and waving his arms around for help, he just walked out but then I realised he started making his way to me, and then opened up the car door and carried me to safety, but he did not save my mother, because after he carried me to safety, a strange red figure in the sky picked him up as if he was a puppet. I woke up from my sleep and realised my dream may have not been a dream, because as I looked around, I was not in the car anymore, and was on the riverbank far from the car.

What do you think? Have you ever created a video essay or maybe just even an essay, I would love to know. Anyway that's it for this week see you next blog post.

Brilliant Binary & ASCII l Term 2

Kia Ora bloggers and welcome back to my blog,
This week on Wednesday we have been learning about Binary, Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers.  You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself!  Try watching this video to give it a go yourself! ASCII is a set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard).  I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code!  Using colours to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below! Here is my progress.

What do you think?  Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII?  Could you have a try for yourself?  Can you work out how to write my initials in ASCII from the pattern above?

My Cool Comic Strip l Term 2

Kia ora bloggers and welcome back to my blog,
This term for inquiry we have been focusing on our global issues, but before we got deeper into global issues we have been looking at the irony, and what kind of irony there is. The irony comes in many forms, but there are three categories that they mainly come under, Situational Irony, Dramatic Inorny and Sarcastic irony. Situational irony is the opposite of what you think will happen, for example, say someone was carrying a very large cake and trips and falls into the cake, but it turns out that he is a professional cake carrier, so you would expect him not to fall over, that is  Situational irony. Dramatic Irony is where you can see what is going to happen but the actor or person does not see it, for example, say you are watching a scary movie and you can see the villain about to jump out but the actor does not see, that is Dramatic irony. verbal irony is where you say something that is a joke, so you are being sarcastic, let's say that you are telling someone that the weather is great today, but it is actually pouring down with rain. Our Irony comic strip is based on dramatic irony, you can obviously see where boots is, but the actor does not see him. What do you think, Did you learn anything new about irony?
